The Hunger Games - Suzanne Collins
“In a dark vision of the near future, a terrifying reality TV show is taking place. Twelve boys and twelve girls are forced to appear in a live event called the Hunger Games. There is only one rule: kill or be killed.
When sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen steps forward to take her sister’s place in the games, she sees it as a death sentence. But Katniss has been close to death before. For her, survival is a second nature.”
“Constant suspense… I couldn’t stop reading” Stephen King
“Bare-Knuckle adventure of the best kind” The Times
“The Hunger Games is amazing” Stephanie Meyer
THE HUNGER GAMES. If you haven’t heard of this series of books by Suzanne Collins you either live in a cave or have absolutely no interest in books.
Everyone says after they read the first chapter they are hooked and can’t put the book down. I however could. I actually read the first chapter got bored and stopped reading it for a week. I am very glad however that I decided to continue because after about the 4th chapter it got amazingly interesting.
I really did enjoy it a lot and would defiantly recommend you pick it up from your local library. I however did have a lot of trouble getting it out as about 20 other people already had it on hold. I now understand why everyone loves it so much. It really is a unique story in every way. Enjoyable for anyone of any age.
I do feel it would have made the story just a bit better if we had received more information about the other characters lives apart from Katniss. It would have made the deaths of such characters more emotional.
I can’t wait to get my hands on the second book. The ending is very suspenseful but it doesn’t leave you with that feeling of complete confusion like some books do. It gives you answers.. and questions.
I will give this book a 9/10. They have recently made a movie which I will defiantly be watching after I read all three of the books.
